What Reflective Vinyl on Emergency Vehicles?
I have the opportunity to supply & in some circumstances fit all that reflective yellow, blue & orange vinyl to our police force.
I’m told it’s called, or sounds like Nickalite and is produced in the USA. This might be wrong as it was one of the fitters who told me. It’s quite thick and might need a specialist cutter? Not sure.

Careful John – I think it’s class 1 reflective that needs to be used – this is much thicker than normal class 2 reflective which you can cut with a plotter. Class 1 reflective needs a special cutter and is much more expensive.

John if it is a diamond grade, you may well need a flatbed cutter, some high end reflectives can be cut with a normal but heavy duty cutter.
Some thick reflectives also require edge sealing, to prevent de-lamination.There are a few firms that specialise in making the kits to fit the cars/vans etc. and this is the usual route to take for this type of work. that is buy in the kit and add your profit + fitting fee
Producing your own templates can be very time consuming.
Many police forces also insist on the reflective being easy to remove so you need to take this into account, especially if you have to strip the vinyl after they come out of service. Hope this helps,Peter

They used to use diamond grade but not now. I think you’re right about the sealed edges too.
As for easy removal, you wanna see the state of the cars after being decommisioned – what a hell of a mess!
