  • Anyone know where I can get this vinyl?

    Posted by TJ_AC on 5 September 2008 at 15:12

    Hey everyone

I don’t know what effect this vinyl is called so I’m having trouble searching for it, we went to the sign show on Wednesday but there was bugger all in the way of vinyl suppliers there. Anyone know where I can buy this from?

    Thanks for any replies.

Jeez that was quick. I’m looking on hexis’ website and they’ve got glitter metallic in their catalog pdf but the pictures are awful quality.

Have you bought it from them before?

I’ve not used it but seen similar in my catalog I got from them, give them a call and ask for a sample or a swatch as they do have a large range of speciality vinyls.

    Yes, you’re right.

Apart from Spandex, Avery, ThyssenKrupp, Robert Horne, Grafityp, Doro etc, there were no vinyl suppliers exhibiting at all. 😀

Looks like gold leaf vinyl, try APS, we used some of this recently.

    • Spandex had a stand featuring nothing but printers not a lick of their vinyl range in sight, a lady from the stand took our details and that was it.

    • Avery’s stand was tiny and looked like a departures lounge at an airport I didn’t see any bright displays of vinyl to draw me in.

    • Grafityp I’ve dealt with before and don’t rate their vinyls.

    • Dorotape’s stand looked to be focusing mainly on garment films.

    • Robert Hornes stand wouldn’t have looked out of place at a village fete.

    But I take your point.

    Peter, Jason and Tobias:

I doubt it’s gold leaf vinyl as this is for a company selling custom coloured crutches and all the other designs are on standard vinyls/digitally printed, I can’t imagine the lady who supplied us the examples to replicate would be willing to sell crutches wrapped in standard vinyl for the same price as crutches wrapped in gold leaf vinyl, which is what she is doing currently.

The vinyl looks like it’s been scratched with a fingernail in a marble pattern throughout.

I’ve gone ahead and requested samples from Hexis.

    Thanks again for everyones input.

TJ – I think what you’re looking for is HD5010 from the Hexis Speciality Series.

Give Mark Monksfield at Hexis a call 01543 411221 and I’m sure he will send you a sample.

    Hope this helps
