  • help please computer wont recognise usb port from cadet?

    hi guys,

this morning there was a massive power surge and although we have surge protectors in place it still seemed to take out the motherboard on 1 of my pc`s..

however, we have re-installed the troop software to a new pc and have found that it will not recognize the usb port coming from the cadet… we have changed usb leads, re-installed the software but no joy…

is it possible the cadet might be faulty? it is powered up, cleaning and setting up as normal but dont have any connection with any pc`s????

any advice would be a great help as i am tearing what little hair i have out !!!

    cheers

    Hi there.

Not in front of my set up at the moment, but re-formatted my lot last week. Installed the drivers etc then the troop software.

No output came out on the first print, but all I had to do was alter the properties in the set up box of the rip and away it went. That was a port problem too.

Not much help other than that at the moment, but will have a look at what I did when I get home if you are not already sorted by then. Sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be along soon!

Will the pc register anything else that is plugged in to the port? Just a thought, maybe a dodgy port?

    update:

thanks for the link nic, i gave it a go but no joy!!

so. i called b&p as i have a over-priced maintenance contract with them, told them the problem only to be told that my contract had been canceled ???????

raving mad i calmly asked why?? apparently when we changed to a limited company in April the contract was stopped???? by who i say??? dont know they say??? wot a bloody mess i say..

however back to the machine.. after a load of messing around testing this and re-installing that – it has come down to the usb input to the cadet may have blown in the surge… so im now hoping this can be fixed mon or tues as we already have a 2 week back log..!!!!

moral of the story is, even tho you may have surge protectors, things can still go pop !!! and make sure your over priced contract is in order !!!

…or use the Cadet over a LAN.

(maybe work plugged into a network switch port too).

Bit of a PITA learning how to set up the IP address the first time – but after that totally sweet!

Roy, some surge protectors offer a guarantee (belkin do) and will pay to repair any damage caused by a surge, have you looked at this?

If you are going to set it up on the LAN, this tool will detech the ip on the printer makes setting up a doodle

    it certainly does 🙂

Then you just pop the ‘revealed’ IP into your RIP software (printer port setting) and Robert is your mother’s brother…
