  • can anyone tell me why the cutting path is out on grenadier?

    Hi All,

I have a problem that I cant seam to fix. I have a 54" print and cut Grenadier. When I print and cut a job that requires a cut path very close to the image, the cut path is out of alignment and cuts into the image and leave lots of white space. It’s an image that I cant seam to put a good bleed on as its an awkward shape.

My RIP is Wasatch v6. I have adjusted the Print & Cut through the menu on the Grenadier. The machine prints the test pattern and cuts a cut line on it. It was off line first of all, but I got it on centre. Its now spot on, but its still out when printing from the RIP. Is there a problem with the RIP or is there any setting that I can tinker with?

Any help would be gratefully received.

it does it either if its cut straight after printing, or if crop marks are used. the printer finds the crop marks ok. i’ll phone b&p in the morning.

    Hi
if we need to be very accurate on our print & cuts, i set a dry time in Versaworks to stop it cutting straight away. I then turn the heaters off the dry time normally 5 minutes gives the vinyl & machine time too cool, the cut is then spot on. I cut laminated prints with the heater off as well.

Probably nothing to do with it but I have the 74" Grenadier that is print only and use Grahtec to cut. I had problem with cuts not in right place and it turned out to be because i had selected the "centre" optionn i uncheacked this and all was well again.

    Regards

thats a known fault with the RIP, Roland have a work around on their site although i think they only list it for Print & Cut machines

    Hi Kev,

Unfortunatly like a lot of faults they are not readly advertised, i know about it now but i found out about it the hard way and as usual on a rush job, had a graphic going on the back of a van, printed it and left it over night to degas, came in next day laminated it and loaded it to cutter which cut it about 10mm off to one side, no time to reprint and degas another but was luckly able to trim the 1 side that still had white showing and use it.
There is a simple work around, i now never use the centre option when cutting.

    Russell.

    Hi Chris

Yes it was the L shaped grid with 2 cut lines. The cut lines are right on line. I got to get this job cut today 😥 its bin drying all night ready for cutting. I was thinking of putting a key line round the image, but it looks rubbish like that. Plus the key line would still be un-even.
