  • What would be the best way to produce this plate?

Posted by John Cooper on 20 July 2008 at 08:25

    Hi guys,

I’ve been asked if I can produce some of these on a brushed aluminum plate.

I can heat press using the usual sublimation method but, I think the exposure to sunlight would soon degrade the image.

They are to be stuck on the plate by the gear stick so not very large.

What would be the best method to produce them?

    Cheers

    John

I would think hot foil onto a brushed aluminium vinyl would do it

sorry John….I’ve just re-read your post.

I would think screen printing is the most likely way to produce these

UV flatbed printer… some of the big trade suppliers offer this now.
i guess screen printing is the way too, as glenn has said but i recon you would probably need a a large volume of them for this method.

If you can get away with black on silver, find someone who uses something like Gravograph laser foil

Ideal job for your new FX John, (I presume you bought it?) spandex supply a brushed ally sub strate that could be applied to a composite, or say 3mm ally plate

Thanks for the replies guys 😉

Peter, I did wonder if this was a suitable job for the FX but wondered if the resolution of the FX would be too low @ 300 x 600.

I didn’t buy it as, in a nutshell, it’s suspected stolen from Spandex!
