  • where can source a eyeleting machine at the right price?

I’ve decided to finish all the banners I do in-house. I’ve bought a sewing machine which we are starting to use tomorrow on 20 scaffold banners.
I also need to look into a welding thingimudgig if anyone knows where to get one of these as well. Sending the banners out is getting costly and time consuming.

Do you have the link to hand?

    Karl.
welding thingies are about 2k, and you will need a lot of room, sewing is as good for print, double sided tape is an option, but using the right material, you dont need a hem, just eyelets
Some will say different, but most printed banners are short term, finishing should be at the minimum cost.

    Just my opinion

    quote Peter Normington:

welding thingies are about 2k, and you will need a lot of room

We use ours on a 8′ x 3′ piece of 10mm MDF with silicon paper taped to it to stop the banner sticking, works a treat, and quite often 15 mtr plus lengths are hemmed on it, so for once I’d disagree with you there Peter 😀

We got our’s through City & West End Solutions, however, I believe they are available from Welwyn Tools. The only tip I would give (as given to us by Rob when we got ours) is to have a power supply above rather than to a side or below.

Dare I say it, there are some cheap Chinese versions on flea bay, it’s like everything tho, you get what you pay for!

Another piece of kit we couldn’t be without now.

I thought the welding machines were sort of self propelled, and needed the banner to be its full length on a flat surface.

Sorry should not have opened my gob, without knowing the facts,

    not like me.
must be the time of the month 😉

Try Signmaster for a welding machine, we’ve just bought one, fantastic bit of kit.

i use tape on temp banners, but heat weld large ones, long term ones and also joining banners (if BIG).
The leister welder is a great tool… but expensive if you dont have a volume of banners to use it on. from memory the machine is £1600 and the finishing kit £300.. (maybe be cheaper nowadays though)

here is a good thread from the past, complete with some videos. 😀

Rob mentions the leister model for £1600,…they also do a hand held one for about £300,…these are heat adjustable and are plenty hot enough for banners using a rubber roller, also good for vehicle wraps as you can get various width nozzles.
