  • Flex-Face Sign identification help please?

    Hi folks…
I have the beginning of a large ongoing order to do… the trouble is, the first job is replacing an existing flex-face light-box SKIN only. This isnt a problem if i had installed the box but this is not a system i have used before and ide rather get it 100% first time than create any issues on day one… all future flex-boxes will be done using my existing supplier so there wont be an issue.
I really just need to find out who produces this Flex-Face system?

Thank you for any help on this…

That reminds me of a system advertised some 10 years ago.
They regularly advertised in Sign Update with a full page ad.
It was one of the earliest systems where they supplied a tool for pulling up the springs in to place.
The main feature being that it was always self tensioning due to the constant and equal spring pressures.
If you have some mags from around 1998 you might see it.
Sorry but can’t think of the name.

    quote Craig Brown:

That’s what I thought Craig, but I’ve only ever done the one sign so I’m not sure how similar other systems look.

added on edit: looking at it again, specifically the trim and the way the springs are mounted, I’m confident it is Kestrel.

thanks a million guys… much appreciated.
funny thing is, i had kestrel quote me on this job already. and did not know this was their system… their price was almost exactly what i pay with existing supplier so i thought ill keep with what i know/use… looks like ill be giving them a go after all.
my only concern with this system is, as peter says, appears to be a bit dated.
I’ve exposed the sides as you can see and removing those tight springs doesn’t look the easiest of tasks in comparison to what i use at the moment.
    time will tell eh! 😀

    thanks again!

    Rob,

As I said, I’ve only ever done the one flex face, so I’ve got nothing to compare it with, but I would say that, as a beginner with absolutely no experience whatsoever, even at 40 feet x 8 feet, and 30 feet up in the air, it was a doddle to erect.

Certainly the springs are strong, but I like that. It feels secure, and gives a nice even tension across the face. With the tool supplied they are not difficult to stretch and hook over.

The service was good too. As a novice at this sort of thing, they held my hand making sure that I ordered the right stuff, and gave me lots of useful advice. The sign was delivered direct to my customer’s premises on the date specified

    I’d certainly use them again.
