Jason, the guy that welds my banners with ropes, lays the rope down the banner, in from the edge, folds the precut edge (35mm) over the rope, then welds the banner as close as he can to the rope. For heavy duty banners he sews the rope at each end as well.
I had a banner printed for me. was about 80ft long. i asked the guys doing it to thread it with a length of string and then weld it. when it arrived i tied the string to the end of tensioning cable and pulled it all the way through. worked a treat on a very big banner. i dont think there will be any issues having this done. i have a liester hot air banner welder and i know i could do same with even that. ide expect someone doing these big banners are using hi-frequency welders that do about a minimum of a metre at a time so even easier for them ide think.
