Hi John
VOIP Explained
Definition: Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is the technology used to transmit voice conversations over an internal or external data network using IP packets (digital form); without loss in functionality, reliability or quality; and in compliance with the International Telecommunications Union specifications. The term is also used to refer to the hardware and software used to carry such calls over the network
Basically a phone connected over your broadband line
Cheers

I use talk talk business but wouldn’t recommend them unless you’ve got a good head of hair.
Once set up its great but I had teething trouble with buying a domain through them, hosting and getting charged for things I shouldn’t have. Took about 4 months to sort out and at the time customer services spoke a different language to me.
Broadband 8mb
Free calls
Domain hosting (webspace)
free router
no download limits
Line rental included
All for about £35.00 including vatFor the price its a good deal but make sure you know what your getting and check your agreement to make sure there’s no mistakes.
Cheers John

After a good few recommendations on this site when looking for a new supplier for the house I moved over to Orange, now after using them for the last 3 months I would also give them the
I also plan to use Orange Business for my new shop & just pay BT for the basic line rental.

Thanks all for the replies, so VOIP is like Skype then.
Neil, what are the benefits of using orange with Bt line please?
John
For ref I dont need internet hosting as I have web and email with another ISP

for the live box benefits – second line (voip) with dedicated 0845 number & also
quote :inclusive calls to 30 international destinations using the internet. Plus you can enjoy free calls to Orange mobiles and talk endlessly to other customers with the Orange second line service. Or chat away freely on UK landlines beginning 01, 02 and 03.& of course reliable Internet access.

Would you lose your current BT tel number if paying them the line rental?
