Not sure if this belongs in here of off topic. Move it if need be.

What are the names of the roles in your companies?

Were looking at taking someone on in production and now sure what the title of the role should be. We don’t want to include the term manager etc as we don’t want our clients under the impression they’d be able to impart all the knowledge in the business over to them.

I used to design, lay up, order stock, I negotiated fantastic prices with suppliers, sourced and researched new materials, dealt with customers, Was in charge of two people and an extremely busy sign department which ran very smoothly, many a time I was in early and finished late because of my commitment regular 40 to 60 hours a month – I might add I was the only one in the firm prepared to do this.
Oh yes, my title – Sign maker. I am certainly not bitter or running anyone down, but position as an employee can be be quite important. I have turned down management positions that required less of me.
    Mart.

    Casual/General Operative…
give a guy a title like designer and he’ll tell you he’s not a fitter when you need work done…
I got redundancy from my job in ’96 simply because of the title of my position.. if i had of been listed as a Casual/General Operative i was told i could be employed in any other area of the company, simply because i was a signwriter and they stopped using handmade signage my job ceased to exist.. i got a nice fat cheque for my troubles :lol1:
costly line of text for them though 😕 :lol1:
