should supplier catalogues have prices inserted or be blank?
Posted by Harry Cleary on 27 May 2008 at 08:45Does it annoy anybody else that suppliers print the price of their product beside that product in their catalogues? Had a customer this morning looking to buy 4 hanging signs but wanted to look at samples. Of three catalogues I had, they all had the prices printed beside them. Why can’t they print them in a coded index at the back? Rant over! 🙁 🙁

I hate this too but I normally just print a picture off the suppliers website but edit the price out first or just replace the price with your own 😉
bit of a pain but only way really……… also blank catalogs with index cards are a pain when you lose the index card :lol1:

i know what you mean, it can be frustrating but i kinda also think it is important to have it right next to it because i like to be able to see "at a glance" what costs what… i recon i would over look many products if the price wasn’t next to it. by that i mean a very good deal would be hard to promote if it was not next to the picture of the product.
signwaves have an unbranded poster of all their pavement signs and a branded price list separate. i think this is great but like john says… its sods law you cant locate the price list when you need it most.
from the suppliers point of view it is got to be costly having them separate but i agree with you it would be advantageous if separate.
maybe have a branded magazine/brochure but info to tell you a website URL to go and each page or product comes as a pdf download without branding/prices. that way if you really need to show a customer or even give him the leaflet away with them you could go to a page list and just click on the page you need to download and print it off? -
couldn’t agree more Harry,
I think the only catalogues we have with out pricing are from Sign+Digital…perfect to show customers the products we do,
S+D even did a offer with your sign company names on it for a fee, made it really look professional…pity more companies wouldn’t do the same…

I have a catalogue from a clothing supplier with the prices next to the product but what they do is sell a catalogue exactly the same but without prices and without their name on so you can show a customer the product without letting them know what you get them for or where from. It would be a lot better if they all offered this option.
