Truck Graphics: Entertainment Warehouse Hires
Posted by Jason Xuereb on 25 May 2008 at 13:4511.45pm Sunday night just finished this one. Made my brother take a photo of my handy work. The other side is identical but its parked close to the wall so didn’t get a shot of it. Hopefully its sunny tomorrow so I can get a better pic.
Arlon 4560GTX with the 3220 over laminate. Once its down its pretty much down 😀
I really need to buy a mobile scaffold tower.

well done mate…
I’ve never used Arlon, I don’t think its available in the UK…
What did you use to fit it? i use tressles and catwalk, i find them much easier and quicker to work with than scaffolding.how did you find alignment? reason i say is because you have a straight band in your graphics low down in the design and its never easy getting it 100% straight because you start at the top working your way down, if you see what i mean?

Looks good Jason.
11.45pm? What, do you lot only work part time over there?

Hey Rob,
I just have a step ladder at the moment. That’s why I want something I can comfortably work with. With the step ladder I can barely reach to the edge of the sheet as I squeegee across. With your trestles do you find you can move them easily like across into your next position? Do you just push one trestle so your plank is now shorter in the middle then pull the other one so your in your next position?
My alignment is pretty good. It was out in some places and it took some adjustments. I just did that triangle thing so I got the logo and bands at the bottom to line up then heated the excess vinyl and laid it down.
I think once I get scaffolding or trestles or whatever I choose I’ll be able to work better and concentrate on the overlap more.
I’m pretty happy with it this is my second truck and my first truck basically on my own. I did have my brother help me do the alignment but I laid down the sheets on my own. Roll then back up pull backing sheet and work my way down.
The Arlon is a good product. I am pretty happy with it. I prefer the 6000X being thinner but this 4560GTX (polymeric) is a lot thicker and might hold up better on a truck. The GTX is a lot more aggressive it’s harder to snap off if you accidentally drop the sheet down. Maybe because I was on a step ladder and didn’t have the leverage.
Glen: I’m not hiding any bubbles 😛 It’s bubble free.
Andy: It’s our own business I’m working 7 days a week at the moment until we can establish ourselves and put on staff and buy quicker equipment.

Hi Jason
Stupid question time again. what do you mean by "the triangle Thing"?
Thanks mate
cheers Mike 😀 -
Ok I will try and illustrate this as best I can. Credit goes to a guy called Justin Pate.
The sheet to the right is already applied.
Now your applying the sheet to the left. You make your alignment but the bottom portion of the D is not aligned its too low.
What you do is start applying the sheet. As you get mid way through the middle of the D you pick up the right side of the sheet and tack it down so its aligned.
By doing this you will have an excess of vinyl between those two Grey lines I drew in. The red line illustrates the angle the sheet is being lifted. This is highly exaggerated and if you were this out with your alignment you would be all over the shop.
Keep applying the sheet to the bottom. Now with that excess vinyl you now have in a triangle hit it with heat from your heat gun it should relax then squeegee it down. That’s what I referred to as the triangle thing.
Hope that helps Mike.
