Has anyone got experience with using a no-white uv printer?
Hi,
Has anyone got experience with using a no-white uv printer, and printing to acrylic sheet/block then needing to print white over it to provide a background….. am I making sense?? -

ah, i think i answered the question in the other thread.
One of the things we are looking at is white onto acrylic and have looked into ways of after printing or buying a machine that prints it at the same time. It is possible with silk screen to overprint white but we don’t do it but I know that a company in scotland has managed to do it.

Cheers Dave, I have applied screen ink to the reverse of acrylic and it works well, but not professional enough. (Granted I used a small foam roller) I am now going to buy a small screen machine and try again.
I think the only solution would be to print over with another UV machine with a white head, but there aren’t too many near me. -
can you not use white vinyl ?. interested in a uv printer

well i found screen ink to shrink the print… i think sericol suggested another ink but not sure what that is.. i would talk to them about it.
basically it looks like you thinknig the same as what we did.. if you can print the product with white UV ink and then put it back through the same printer and move the head with the UV light all over it, my thoughts is that it should be fine. Reason why is UV light is at the same wavelength and consistancy of light. I am no expert as this is what I am learning from other people.

Did you mean paint with UV ink or print…
Problem with painting is that it is not perfectly smooth or even over the substrate. I know it is possible to do cos I have seen one our competitors have done, and it is perfect, but a secret of course.. -

Hi, vinyl just does not stick 100% evenly and is not opaque enough for the desired effect.

Studio Screen trade supplies in Devon have an inca uv printer and it prints white onto perspex have a sample from them and the reverse white flood is really good
