if it is temporary will be no problem, as long as they treat it with care ie: roll it not fold it

if you are using CAST vinyl and baking it with a heat gun and having it up only a week, then yeah you could maybe chance it. but i would NOT use a calendered vinyl. in fact… ide rather Waite till banner vinyl came in the next morning than risk anything like that.
in short, for a few months… ide definitely say NO. but I’m sure others will tell you different. but that’s my opinion. 😀

hi the vinyl i have is from Victory, its the 7 / 8 year stuff.

You mention a heat gun, do you usually use a heat gun for banner vinyl?
Sorry if its a really thick question, but ive just dont two 7meter long banners for a shed company, completely at cost prices its all just practice for me to start up in business. I havent used any heat gun though, just stuck it on and used a laquer pen arround the edges of the letters! 😮

I have never used heat to apply to a banner, either banner vinyl or ordinary vinyl,
I have never used a lacquer pen either 🙄 and I have banners still around done years ago

hey lynn thats a big relief to me! thanks!

Ive always done the laquer arround the vinyl letters thats what i was told in the shop, and i dont know anyone in the graphics trade to talk to about things, so im glad i found this forum!

I have used some normal vinyl on some banners before that i did for a nightclub in lincoln, to hang down the side of the DJ booth, i hope they are ok!!!!

James, if you are on a learning curve to set up in business why not do it right from the start?
Normal vinyl will roll up and delaminate when stored.
    It looks ghastly being glossy.
Your customer will end up disgruntled.
You will get a bad name when customers realise you haven’t used the right materials.
Also, just because you are starting out doesn’t mean you have to do it at cost. At some time you might be trying to justify higher prices to those same customers for the same work.

I’ve just had a customer cancel an order for 5 site boards because he can get them done for £14 each. I can only assume that the supplier is also working at cost as the job just isn’t worth having at that money.

Yeah thats a really good point, i dont want to devalue the market. Ebay is already doing that… 🙁

But by doing things cheap its allowed me to make little mistakes, and helped out a few businesses that were starting up. Often though ive also been building them a website, and the banners and vinyls and uniforms ive embroidered have been added on, as kind of a package so they didnt know the true cost ive charged them.

If the worst happens, ill have to do the banners again, hopefully wont happen 🙂

Just ordered some more banner vinyl this morning 🙂
    thanks
