  • can someone help trying to installing large vinyl panels?

    Hi All

I am running into a little difficulty installing 1.2x deep x 6m wide vinyl banners. I am using Oracle Rapid Air 3551 with full colour image on it.

I let the banner cure generally for 24 – 48 hours before install.

Basically the first .5m and last .5m are a disaster, the middle bit seems to be fine. Both the start and finish seem to get huge ripples in them and massive bubbles. Is there something I am missing here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.! 😀

    Cheers

    Michael

they are the bits that get stretched the most, try using extra application tape on it to add strength

Oops.. I should have been a bit more clear, sorry guys!

I have printed directly to 3551 Oracle Rapid Air @ 1.2m x 6m and given the prints 24 – 48 hours to cure.

I have not added any laminate nor used any application tape to put them up.

Basically I get a chalk line happening to establish a straight edge at the top and use low tack masking tape to stick it in place.

I have one person peeling back the backing tape whilst the other uses a squeegee, working from the middle to the top and the bottom.

This works great after the first .5m and before the first .5m but the start and the end always seem to have massive bubble lines or creases for some reason!

I am installing to painted melamine which have been given weeks to dry & degas. At the moment I am putting them up dry, but may have to try wet if there is no help for me. Can Rapid Air be done using wet application?

    Any help would be great!

    Cheers 🙂

If i’m reading this right, just take your time mate. Ive done countless doubledeck bus wraps and the vinyls are big. Slowly does it! But app tape could help you.
