should i apply magnetic signs onto van bonnets?

hi folks
Been asked to supply some mags for a customer to be applied to new Transit bonnets
didn’t think about it at the time but just wondering whether to advise against…
any views ,experiences will they stay on?

Terry, I always refuse to do mags for bonnets, what would happen if the plonker of a driver was doing ninety up the M1 and the mag detached from the bonnet and plopped on the windscreen?

In my book a definite no.

Dont make them too big and they stick fine

done a few without any probs

I had to go and collect a bloke 4 years ago when I was in the funeral game who’s mag had come off his bonnet and gone through his windscreen. The fire officers at the accident said with the speed he was doing it would have been the same as having a 1 ton weight hit him in the face. 🙁 😉

any way NO to the bonnet, but after you have supplied them he can put them where he likes i suppose.

Bonnets are compound curves so, unless very small, there is no way that a mag is going to sit flat. If it isn’t flat then the wind is going to get under it.

As above, I’d advise against, then it becomes his choice, but I’d word my invoice carefully. Something like "magnetics for use on sides and rear of van only" then if he does do it, and come unstuck, you should be immune to any claim of him denying that he was warned.

It’s a good question, because we make magnetics for people and never ask what they are going to be used for. Perhaps we all need to be more careful.

I would certainly say no.
I must have lost 5 or 6 ‘L’ plates when I was teaching my sister and they were only 200mm square.
The fact that they were sat on the passenger seat in direct sunlight when not on didn’t help, but you can’t guarantee that he’ll look after his.
