I need to stick two pieces of banana banner together (this evening, no time to order tape) Anybody know what would do this job that can be got in a hardware store? Would evostick- serious stuff do it?

    Hi Harry,
Would it not be possible to weld these banners together using heat. Maybe either an old iron or even a heat gun.

    Cheers John

    Good idea Peter, thanks
John, can I just heat them? no other material necessary? That could be a plan! 😀

Get out with the missus’ sewing machine!!

No glue or tape will ‘really’ work to join banner.

it’s either got to be heat / ultrasonically welded or stitched.

I’ve got one of those heat sealing machines, its a small press with what looks like an element from an electric toaster. It uses heat and pressure to seal polythene. Thought something similar just might work 😀

Just tried with a heat gun and while it sticks I can’t get it hot enough that it bonds fully without crinkling, if you know what I mean.
David, will ordinary thread work on these? My wife makes clothes so if I started sweet talking now I might have it by evening! 😀

good thread with two or three runs back and forward will do it. I made some hand held banners using ordinary thread, they worked great.

Hi Harry, If it crinkles with the heat this could be where the pressure comes in. It might work if it was sandwiched between 2 plates of metal with grease proof paper on to stop it sticking. Heat the metal to the max and see what happens. Patent pending :lol1:

Just had it stitched, top job! Cost me a bottle of wine though! 😀 😀
    Thanks folks
