  • help please ink has started to rub off and smear t-shirts?

Posted by Paul Seamer on 27 March 2008 at 17:17

Hello. I have just had a customer bring a shirt print back as the ink has started to rub off and smear. I’m using Grafityp C material with Roland Eco Sol Max. this is on a Motocross shirt so 100% polyester. Any ideas why it did this or how to stop it?

    Thanks
    Paul

I’ve had the same problem before too

How long after printing the image are you pressing it?

Also when pressing it are you using app tape?

    Hi Guys.

To start with I was just using a teflon sheet over the top it. I’ve just done another test shirt and as soon as I went to scratch it (Not ideal I know) The ink started to come off. After I have printed i’m leaving it for over 12hours as I was requested. I have just tried the TTF (App tape) with it and it gives a better quality straight from the press but no difference afterwards. Any other ideas would be great.

Couldn’t get on with the grafityp stuff but use Metamarks version and app tape and have no problems. I have a hoodie with a few test images printed on it using Metamarks printable textile vinyl and the only problem I have is a few mm lifting on one corner of the image which was down to my pressing rather than anything else.

Also I have often pressed within an hour of printing and no problems.

    All printed on a JV3.
