May help if you let people know what Plotter you have & what Software you are going to drive it with.

Karl is probably the best to deal with this inquiry. I am sure he will be along soon.
He has a lot of experience in this sort of thing

Set it to a USB port instead of a com port like you do with a printer.
    That should solve it.
My GX-24 is set to USB002

But as mentioned above it may be a mix of plotter and software

A lot of plotters have an FTDI usb chip and software support.
They show up as a new com port in device manager.
No guarentee it defaults to com2:
You can usually change the com port

What ports does you PC have?
What ports does the cutter have?

USB is USB & COMM is Serial 2 totally different connectors.

If your using COMM1 or 2 serial you need to set Baud rate and handshaking and may also need a null modem serial cable.

Sounds to me that you are using USB but you are selecting Com 1 or 2 as the port which is incorrect.

If it is USB you need to select USB as the port

why not uninstall everything to do with the cutter / software.

then conect the cutter, via it’s cable, whatever it may be, and simply switch it on, the computer should detect a new piece of hardware, prompt you to put in the software, and automatically assign a usb port to it.

i’ve not used com ports in years, everything here is connected via usb and usb hubs, all 8 items, the computer just sorts them out!

Doesn’t matter what port you are using if the language is wrong it won’t communicate.
