  • which way can i fix studs on cut out PVC Letters?

Hi all. Does anyone know of a software or other way of setting fixed positions for studs when being placed onto the back of solid cut out letters etc? It’s to help with installations, where in some cases where there a up to 200 letters of the same size to be placed, and it can be a bit of a pain when you have 50 ‘E’s, all with the studs in different places. Any thoughts?

Just number each letter on the back with a felt tip pen.

Thank for the suggestion, that’s, what we have been doing, but doesn’t help when a store 300 miles away rings up looking for a replacement letter! I should have said that this lettering is standardized across a large chain of retail outlets, and we 100+ stores, with up to 200 letters fitted to each store!! Eak!

Could you not fax a template to the store in question and ask them to circle which letter is missing then fax back to you so you know? Taking into consideration that you peg every letter the same off a template?

How are you cutting the letters?
If it’s cnc machinery reverse cut them with a dot cut by the cutter for the centres of the locators.
Remember to make sure the files are saved and stored safely :lol1:

That’s exactly how my mate does it. He uses the same dot pattern on repeated letters. This means that any repeated letters are the same and interchangeable. Also, he makes the drilling template using the same method so the marks are extraordinarily accurate.

You’ll notice I used the words ‘interchangeable’ and ‘extraordinarily’ in one post. I am clever, aren’t I? Yes.
