  • can anyone help with this cutting problem & Fine Cut 7?

I have limited experience on my Mimaki and was wondering if anyone can help. I have no problems cutting designs and solid lettering out by when I
try to cut an outline of a solid letter, I keep getting the following
    message

"Data with stroke weight specified was found.Finecuts cuts the center of the stroke width.Do you continue processing? (Cancel or ok).

I then press ok but I only get the text cut in a solid form. Is it not possible
to cut a thin outline of the text? I do increase the stroke width but still get
the same response. I do hope have explained this problem correctly.

    Doesn’t work like that Jane.

The artwork you generate is based on one line. No matter what thickness you assign to that line in an artwork view doesn’t matter. It is still one postscript line, and that is what the cutter blade follows.

To cut an outline character you need to manipulate it in your software so that the stroke is made up of two lines, at whatever separation you specify.

This is from memory but if you are using Illustrator, draw a line, give it a stroke, select it, then go to Object > Path > Outline Stroke and see the effect it has. It won’t be a line, rather a rectangle, and that is what the blade in your cutter will follow.
