  • Projecting sign with slats where can i buy one?

I need to source or make a projecting sign that can have slats inserted. Like 30" projecting x 24" high. Double sided, with 5 slats per side.

So the customer can slide out a panel and insert a new one with different information on it.

If anyone knows where I can get such a thing or has any tips on how to make this then that would be smashing.

I have a couple of ideas but I have a tendency to overcomplicate things so it would be good to hear some ideas.

    Ta.

when you say slats, do you mean for instance like 5 pieces of dibond/wood etc you can slide in and out like a vacancy/no vacancy sign?
held on the board by a slider type rail/runner?

    Yes.

I did suggest magnetic strips but the customer said "NO".

I was thinking of maybe some thin foamex strips that would slide into a groove.

Well Andy, I have a menu board that I need to design the exact same thing for, its Dibond backed, with possibly aluminium holders on it that can take another piece of sliding Dibond to change menus etc, IE double sided board that can be switched accordign to the menu.
We need to find a supplier eh,

Hmm, well I was thinking that I could rout a small rebate into the edge of a strip of foamex and then bond it to the panel. This would provide a groove for the slat to slide into. The thing is, I need to make the whole thing wind resistant as it is going outside and projecting……..

Even better, some of these extrusions look quite handy…..

If your thinking of making up your own design for this sign, you can get various aluminium extrusions from these people who also supply alumininum and stainless steel sheet products and traffic sign blanks.

They are a bit of a one stop shop for raw materials for sign fabrication 🙂
