Moving printer short distance
Posted by John Wilson on 11 February 2008 at 20:56OK I’m needing to move my printer about half a mile down the road
I don’t have any empty carts but I do have the bottle stopper thing
Since it’s such a short distance would I be able to just load it onto the back of a lorry and drive down the straight road without any major problems? It’s only 10 minutes drive… straight road really

Don’t forget to lock the head – if it’s a versacamm you should have a blue bracket to do this.
I’ve moved mine – back of a sprinter – plenty of strategically placed straps, and me in the back holding on to it!
Just make sure the driver is careful and do it when there’s not much traffic about!
Cheers

JoeHmm I’m not sure if I got a blue bracket with mine, i’m almost certain that I don’t
I need to move it in the next few days too 😮

might be fixed to the outside of the machine at the back – on the right hand side as you look at it from behind…….
Anyone near you with a versa you can borrow a bracket from?
DONT move it without locking the head in position though , it’ll f3ck up the printer!! 😮 😮
Cheers
JoePS Roland parts can probably supply you with one if you get desperate.

i think its vibration that is the thing to guard against.
when i moved mine 2 doors down i insisted it was carried not wheeled on the concrete.
if i had to put it in a van i would take it off the stand and place it on a couple of mattresses.some form of head restraint would be nice. even some foam squeezed in.

Moved ours 6 weeks ago roughly. Process was this.
I took off the take up roller unit first.
Turned off the printer.
Took out the waste bottle put in the stopper.
Took out the cartridges and put in empty ones.
Locked down the head using the blue plastic bracket.
Moved the printer always in an upright position.
Drove to new premises.
Did everything in reverse.
Ran a cleaning cycle through the printer.
It was good to go. -
we moved ours at the back end of last year….it had to be winched down from first to ground floor level……….all we did was take out the waste bottle…….we left all carts in place etc…….didn’t fix the head in place or anything like that
It went straight onto a flat bed truck……………10 miles down the road to it’s new home…..handballed off & it was plugged in and working within half an hour
easy peasy 😀

half a mile in 10 minutes on a straight road, on the back of a lorry?
you would be quicker just free wheeling the versacamm along the pavement mate! :lol1:sorry, couldn’t resist. 😉

I will keep my fingers crossed for you John, hope everything goes well.

got it moved last night, me and my mate so it wasn’t too bad
bit of a nightmare lifting the whole thing while on it’s stand and with the dryer still attached but got there in the end up, lucky enough the van was rather low 😀
Just locked up the heads and lifted it straight into the van and straight out the van at the other end, test print and fine 😀
Total time : 25 minutes 😎
Cheers for the advice and info everyone 😉
