Art Canvas Profiles for SP300
Hi Guys, Does anyone out there know of the proper profiles to use for printing on the SP300 for Art Canvas material to produce deep vibrant prints?

I use the SP300-V for canvas printing too.
From what ive seen there isnt an actuall profile out there for canvas. Rolands site does have one i think but from memory it wasnt for Versaworks or some other excuse…anyways…
what i do is set the quality to normal Monomeric Calendered Self Adhesive (GVWG), always print at High Quality! and also select EuroscaleCoated V2 in the preset colour management. ive also been told that you can use the other preset (i.e. ignore preset check box) and go for the Banner profile at High quality – GenBanner- 1080×1080. Apparently this will spit out a little more ink. I dont tend to use that anymore as i couldnt really see any difference in test pieces.
You ask about deep vibrant colours?
This one comes down to the canvas media you’re using mate. Ive been a canvas printer for about 18months now and over that time ive tried n tested a few rolls of canvas. Some ive thrown after 30 seconds of seeing the print! Some were ok – not brilliant and some were far too matt and flat , even leaving a dusty residue on your finger tips pre-print!!!
I only use 1 canvas now and the results are outstanding. im getting more and more photographers on my books by the week because of the depth of colour im getting. The reports im getting back are incredible and only this week a photographer client actually got a booking for an entire wedding package off the back of seeing my canvas. Dont get me wrong, the image was excellent in the first place but the canvas sealed it, even other photographers at the wedding fayre wanted to know who made the canvas 🙂 me 🙂 lol

If your just starting out printing canvas then your in for a lot of trial and error too. Be prepared to waste a roll and a lot of ink. The ICC profile isnt the best for canvas but with some good tweaking in Photoshop and getting to know the printer, you can get the deep colours you want without having to fork out a small fortune for the daddy canvas printer – The Epson 9800. I want one of these big time but the consumables are so expensive, but then again you pays your money – ya takes ya choice 😉

Dave.p.s. i shoul’ve added that if you are new to canvas printing, in Photoshop or whatever package you use – always convert to CMYK at the end of your work because if you need to do any colour correction, then doing it in CMYK from the start will give weird results! RGB first, do what you gotta do, then when happy – convert and save it in CMYK with EuroscaleCoated V2 profile embedded. also, if you need to do black and white prints (greyscale) then the latest Versaworks update now has a profile for this called Density Control. Its not bad at all but in some lights it can give a very slight green hue/cast. you’ll never get true black & white with the Camm (not in my experience anyway – i hope someone can prove me wrong there)

Yes its me! i stay up all night with my canvas pixies and we knit like mad :):) lol.
Ok well i guess its not big secret, i get it from Grafityp Uk (LCAN54)
From all the others ive tested so far, this canvas gives a great depth of colour and is also very durable when being stretched. I will admit and im sure Joe from Grafityp will back me up on this that there were some bad batches made in the past i.e. the coating was too thick but for me and for what i print with (SP300V) it works just fine.

The other canvases ive tried were from good ‘ole China and wern’t worth the postage i paid on them. I never bought full rolls but got about 9 different 3 metre samples – all failed miserably on the Camm. Some would bleed into the weave straight away, some were just flat with no colour response at all and one wasnt even canvas! it was like a mesh type of fabric (not like mesh banner or flag textile) and a complete waste of time.
The reason i buy the 54" roll for a 30" machine is because i get the guys at Grafityp to chop it at 30". That way i sorta get 2 rolls which is good for doing smaller canvases on the 24" and larger ones for the 30" instead of wasting large ammounts of canvas on little 12×16" on a 30" roll 🙁

Perhaps we could share a few tips here guys, i didnt realise so many people were also printing canvas as well. Ive not been on this forum for ages because when I initially signed up here it was to do with buying a printer/cutter. Ill be more active now (slaps hand:))

I Googled for this Hydrosol550 Chris and I cant see that its canvas! Am I missing something here mate? Is it the paper style embossed "canvas"

Strange how it happens sometimes 🙂 I was just reading your reply and i got a call from my ink supplier on an un-connected matter. I asked him about this canvas and he deals with the company anyway. Only problem is that i use a 30" machine and these rolls come in 54". My man is looking into seeing if theyll do a chop for me at 30".

soljet pro 2 ecosolmax inks allprint supplies profile for gloss vinyl at 720dpi 8 pass, if you have a really good profile for vinyl then it will print well on to this canvas. just a little feed adjustment req.

Hi Chris,
Y’know I got so peeved off with a certain print i was trying to get right that i went mad and tried the different profiles in VW.
Turned out that both the US Density max and Sign&Display profiles are giving me much much better results than the Pre-Press europe profile ever did!
How come? (rhetorical)
Anyways, im now converted to these profiles, ive never got such vibrant and depth to my prints since i started canvas.
Have you tried these as well?
