Founded in 1926 and employed over 70 people, Pannell Signs goes bust.

I looked at the inventory for the assets and judging by that I think they possibly failed to keep up with modern technology.

All guillotines, presses, folding machines, CNC routers etc but not one large format printer mentioned.

Sometimes though I think a family business fails because it relies on generations to take up the business.

    Shame.

Pannell Signs… now that takes me back. havent seen one of their vans in at least ten years. last one i saw was an old style renault traffic in a sort of BT grey with the logo in the rear quarter of the van. i think they were doing woolworths on argyle street glasgow at the time, but obviously lost that because i saw merson a few years later fitting the new woolworths signs from their cherry picker around midnight one night.

Pannels have gone bust before. They’re not to far from here and to be honest I’m not surprised. I’ve dealt with them on a few occasions and I’ve never come across of such arrogant people before. Not saying they’re all the same but a few are very hard to deal with. Their overheads were massive too. Most of the buildings in the Basford industrial estate are owned by them with most being empty since 2005.
