ANYONE HAD AN OKI 5600 DIE ON THEM?
Posted by David Mellon on 26 January 2008 at 16:44Hi
Looks like there’s a few folk here got an OKI 5600, mine died last night!
Any clues to what this message means – service call 231 fatal error 03 ?
It’s a modified one which gets heavy use, under a year old but recently started refilling the toner – so no doubt the warranty is gone.
Just want to know if it’s something that I can sort myself or am I ordering a new one .
Thanks in advance

Thanks for that Chris.
Any idea what the answer means?
003 ISI Exception
When the program has attempted to look up an invalid address
Note the 24-digit addresses (usually 3), then restart the printer.
Check reproducibility if possible.
Repeat the same operation after restarting the printer and check if the same service call message appears

NO,
anyway i am dangerous with the printers at the moment. after getting in a right mess with my graphtec decided to set it back to factory mode, and make a clean start.
yep it did that back to Japanese squiggles. quite logical when you think about it 😮
before some smart person says JUST change the language, can you go down a menu tree reading squiggles, and hopefully press the correct key.
did in the end.

Did you not keep the original toners?
I always keep those in case of warranty issues, I always had epson printers and just kept the starter carts to stick in in the case of an engineer visit. -
If it’s less than a year old and you have only just started to replace toner then I would have thought it would still be under warranty. Who did you purchase it from and have you tried to contact them for support?
Not sure what they actually do when they say they have modified them. Sorry can’t help with the error codes, I had a read because I have a standard Oki 5600N and thought it might come in handy if I ever had a fault come up but it doesn’t seem to really tell you what to do.
I don’t use my machine for signmaking which was why I was wondering what sort of modifications they made to them.

different papers they sell – doesn’t seem worth it tho(other thread)Steve: the original toners with the machine are just starters ( less ink ) They can’t be re-filled though for some reason! – meaning you need to buy at least one full set of replacements before you can refill.
I guess if I reinserted starter carts (empty) the engineer would suss that one out and when you refill the next set of originals you need to change the chip, he’d suss that too knowing my luck.
Why do these things always happen on a weekend!
I can’t be without this printer so I’ll be forking out for one tomorrow morning – Google £360 less £50 cashback – anyone know better?
Will call the ink guy 1st and see if he can throw any light on the error if
no joy there it’ll be TMT and hopefully I can get this problem sorted and end up with the luxury of a back-up machine -
I have a 5800 Dn so know about the starter carts, but I kept my originals in case I had to have a call out, I would have just said I used them up trying to get them to print properly, as that was another incidental problem I had, some kind of streaking or uneven coating.
They cant prove you used them in any other way other than normal usage.
Incidentally Oki are excellent at customer service, we were sent replacement toners on multiple occasions when they weren’t reading right.
