  • whats the thick protective varnish on vandal proof signs?

    Hi everyone.
A customer has asked me to make a number of signs as vandel resistant as possible, he showed me an example of one he had seen. It seems to have a thick layer of extremely hard varnish all over it. The sign is a tray with a full colour print mounted on the toponly. would any one have an idea to what could have been used to create this. Looking side on the varnished layer seems to be 2 – 3 mm thick.

    Thanks

It could be anti grafitti laminate, sold buy several print media suppliers.
or even a clear resin overlay, doubt if its varnish at that thickness

1 Shot makes a two-part anti graffiti clear.
I think it comes in both matte and gloss finish.
I’ve never used or seen it, only heard about it.
It would be painted on, it’s not a laminate.

    Hi
I have seen the sign and it is most definitely not a sheet laminate. It is a form of liquid, as the corners have no joins or seems. it is a hard shell.

    Thanks

Maybe some sort of epoxy resin, or doming?

Found a downloadable PDF about 1-Shot clear coatings here:

Again, I have no clue if this is what you saw.
