  • Strange printing issue – can you help?

I have a fairly old Roland Resolve with ColourGate RIP and it has worked really well up until the last few days. Just lately I have been experiencing problems printing solid black regardless of whether it is 100% K or a full-on 4-colour black. What keeps happening is that the black ink stops coming through completely at some random point in the print. Sometimes the black dies almost immediately, other times it dies halfway through and so on. No pattern to it watsoever, it just dies every time at some point.

The frustration is that I cannot, at the moment, print any solid black (such as a banner with a black background). It’s infuriating!!!

Any image prints fine (photos, tints, etc) but as soon as it’s solid black, the black ink just drops out and I am baffled by it. I have done all the obvious things such as cleaning and flushing and so on and now I am out of ideas.

Any help will be massively appreciated.

    Hi
sounds like it could be a blocked damper issue, ok on low usage prints but when loads of ink is required damper can’t get enough ink through.

or if using a bulk system the ink tank filter.
the last time i had similar it turned out to be the cart empty but not tripped the empty switch.
