Is it possible to print on garment vinyl
Just a few questions:
Is a particular type of vinyl required for printing on?
Is it possible to print on garment vinyl?
Which print/cutters should I be looking at? I’m not likely to do big designs as it will mainly be used to produce decals for car & bike clubs.
Prices seem to vary considerably and I don’t want to end up wishing I’d purchased some other printer/cutter.

PS Oh! Will these printers print to canvas as in framed pictures?

2 yes xpress do a transfer media to print on
3 depends on budget, and solvent or eco solvent inks
4Go to the suppliers and try them or at least get samples of there prints

I’ve been looking at the Roland Versacam 300 series but not sure of the different models and why one is better than the other. Also, I don’t know which are comparable alternatives.
What is the difference between solvent and eco solvent?

john any of the versacamms will do what you have described as long as they use roland ecosol max inks, the newest versa will print quicker due to more heads.
eco max inks will print on a wide range of untreated vinyls full solvent the range is increased a little more, 4 years ago full solvent was the way forward but when roland introduced the max inks the gap narrowed between them.
imo max inks are well suited to the normal smaller business as they dont have to be run every day with out fail.
the garment films for this sort of inks i think still has a long way to go and they do not impress me at all. i feel that if you want to print small runs then disub is the way.
canvas you can get very passable results on the versas there are better machines for this if you are fussy.
for the use of stickers the print and immediate cut is a god send

I already have the dye sub equipment but it can be fussy on what you can print to and presently I’m stuck with A4 and I still have to master print and cut using registration marks!
