  • New EC rule on reflective vinyl

Have just received a communication about reflective vinyl on vehicles.
If I´ve read it right, (it was in Spanish) according to ECE R48, from Oct. 10th., all vehicles more than 6.5 mts. long x 2.10mts. high have to have strips of reflective vinyl applied to make a border on both sides and on the back.
Yet another b***dy health and safety piece of nonsense, but good for signmakers.
    Anybody know anything about this?

But how would you fit reflective vinyl onto curtainside vehicles?

    Presumably on the metal framework.

    Hi
its not going to be enforce in the UK yet & Phil you can get a special material for the curtains very similar to the curtain itself if i remember reading correctly

Just this morning I had to put some reflective stripes down the sides of a recovery truck. Apparently they have to indicate the length of the vehicle if they are going to stop on motorways. Also, they were told to have white stripes on the front, the width of the cab.

    quote Andy Gorman:

is that so the numpty driving the wrong way up the hard shoulder can see them should they forget to turn on their lights, hazards, and beacons…. 😉

I know this sort of thing being brought in all over the place is annoying… and in allot of cases well over the top. but allot of H&S stuff, particularly on the roads is needed i think…

I remember around this time last year i was driving home from a job and a lorry chassis cab (coming towards me in the dark) was turning off the carriage way i was driving on. "i didnt know it was a LONG chassis cab, nor could i see it was towing a trailer nearly the same length again. :yikes:
After a few screams and a skid along the road. i managed to stop just in time to clean my underwear… 😕 moral of the story is, if it had some sort of proper markings, it would have "helped" prevent my near death experience.

    who muttered, "if only!" :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

anyway, as has been said, more work for us lot…
