• Lightbox panel

    As im quite new to fitting, last night on the way home i had to remove a 3ft square panel from alight box thats above a door but in a reses, so the wall around it is flush with the signs, now theres is only an inch all round so i cant get the screws out of the side frame to remove the bottom fromae, any suggestions?

    Have you got a socket set? Use a screw driver bit so you can get to the screws and use the rachet (i think its called) it bends at a 90 degree angle and treat it like a nut?

    How did they fix the WHOLE light box in place? Might be simpler to take out whatever they did.

    Jonathan, be sure to check that there are actually screws in each side.
    A lot of lightboxes have knock in trims and can be tapped out with a block of wood against the edge.

    Old Universal boxes had a trim which was pushed in from the front, so starting from one end you can lever them out.

    Often once you get these screws turning they will come out fingers. So, get a screwdriver bit and some pliers and see if you can start it off. Hold the bit in place with the tip of your finger and turn it like a spanner with the pliers. Once it’s moving you should be able to ditch the pliers and just turn the bit by hand. Whoever fitted it must have had the same trouble so they probably didn’t tighten it up too much.

    fantastic idea guys, commen sense really i guess, but it was nine at night, cold and wet, not to mention dark, all i could think about was getting home for some dinner and tuck my daughter in, i’m going down to the job now so, ill give it all ago
