what is the correct way of importing text into photoshop?
Posted by Nigel Hindley on 28 October 2007 at 16:39Hi – is there any easy way to get text from the likes of word into photoshop and still be editable?
Any help appreciated
Nigel

As far as I know, no.
Except copy & paste and resizing.
But copy to clipboard from windows is 72dpi. -
Thanks Steve, I figured as much but was wondering if anyone had a way round this – maybe via some other software?
Thanks anyway

I think it will depend on the size and resolution of your Photoshop image as to the results.
Copy the text in Word.
Select the text tool in PS and click on screen.
Right click and paste.
It edits just the same as directly typed text and has the same resolution as the image. -
hes right it does, I just tried it.
but only when you select the type tool,
It wont paste when you click edit >paste without selecting the type tool first. -
David,
Is there any way of getting round the fact that when you do this the background is always white when its pasted with the text?

Yes,
make a new layer with no background colour.
Copy and paste onto the new layer with the type tool selected and click on the new layer so the cursor is flashing ready for the type.
if you don’t do this and just press paste you get the white background.
It will also paste the font you currently have selected in photoshop, not the one you have copied from word.
