    Hi All

Does any one know where I can get a traditional style sign saying private bog off etc

The sign is to go on gates as shown and my clients brief is

    quote :

I was imagining something in black with a raised traditional border (like a picture surround) in iron (perhaps) with embossed black lettering – so that it looks like it belongs within the square

your thought to a suitable supplier please

    Thanks in advance for looking

I would give a metal/blacksmith a call and modify the gate by cutting out some of the vertical section, insert a box frame with "PRIVATE" welded inside. If done right would be in keeping with the gate style.

    Thanks for the replies

David – there will be other text to go on and the dimensions are too restrictive for this instance but thanks anyhow that is the sort of thing perhaps

Graeme – Hoping to keep it simple fitting wise from a cost point of view and get something that can be bolted on but I understand what you’re saying

    anyone else 😕

Does it have to be made from iron?
You could easily do this in hard wood and have the design CNC cut into it, that will give you embossed letters and a border, It’ll have to be painted of course.
Could also be made from any metal really just takes less time on a CNC if its wood and its easier to paint.

No Steve any metal will do as long as it looks old style and be fairly robust, can you recommend a material and a supplier?

If it has to be metal I would go with aluminium as its cheap and easiest to cut with a router.
Anyone with a CNC router will be able to do the work for you all you need is to give them the metal & your design, they will then put it into their cnc program & get the correct depths etc, check the yellow pages by you, there should be plenty of firms doing this kind of engineering.
That said it probably wont be cheap as it will involve bit changes etc depending on how elaborate your design is.
but shouldn’t be much of a problem for them.
let me know how you get on, if you have no luck I have somebody I can ask .
