    Hi,

going up this week to print some small stuff off to make sure Everything is right before I go ahead and order a million yards of vinyl.

I am going to be designing and making custom motocross graphics, the printer i’m going to be using is an EcoJet Compact,

I’m wondering what is going to be the best way to approach this?i’m totaly new to this scale of printing etc,the printer is normaly used for making some reflective house numbers and the guy emails the file to the machine and another guy goes in and hit’s print?

all I want to do is print a couple of small bits onto paper just to make sure the sizeing is right etc,so how would you approach this?

    Thanks,

    Ben

    create good quality artwork.
size it yourself and save it. or… send him the artwork/file and tell him the size you require it. if you are happy with it, ask for it in multiples of whatever you require.
dont order hundreds unless you "know" you are going to shift them…
e.g. once the guy has the file on his system as required. he can print you one or a thousand… he may charge you per linear metre… so you may get a set amount of decals within that area. if they sell… just call him and ask to repeat the following week and so on….

(hope i have understood you correct)

i am not familure with the machine. is it a print and cut machine or does it have facilities to cut also? if not ide look for someone with the likes of a cadet or versacamm, soljet or grenadier etc

I think the Ecojet Compact is the versacamm rebranded and sold by Victory.

    ok,

the guy who owns the machine doesnt have a clue on how to work it,he has somebody else do it all for him,so basicly i’m going to turn up at his shop…and try and print out some small decals, make sure they are the correct size etc etc
eventualy i’l have my own vinyl so i just turn up and run off what i need, and pay the guy a drink to use the machine.

so could i turn up with the files on cd,EPS files be good enough?

    thanks

I would have thought that you would want to build some sort of on going relationship with the people who are outputting this work and if there are large amounts a few trials/proofs would not be out of order. that said if he hasn’t a clue are you sure you’ve chosen the right bloke for the job.
