  • Hanging a Foamex Sign

    HI Guys

A customer I am doing some office signs for has asked me if I can do some mounted posters. Of course I said yes and now need to know a few things.

He originally said he wanted them on 15mm thick MDF but I told him I’m sure there are some better materials to use that will be lighter and neater. The board will only be seen at the edges and he wanted the MDF painted black 😕

I was thinking of 10mm black foamex, will this be any good and has anybody done something like this before as I need to know what to put on the back to make it hangable.

    any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Warren

Stirrups and wire are probably the most secure, but there are millions of ways of doing it, millions. Have a look at places like UKPOS.com. They sell all sorts of hanging stuff.

    Hi Guys

    2 x 3 foot and 3 x 4 foot

Hanging on wall in office like a poster board 😉

My doubts are how to fix anything to the back of the Foamex without it showing in the front.

If the Foamex is 10mm thick will I be able to screw an 8mm screw in to it 😕 or should I make an adaption with a small piece of Foamex on VHB tape with wire running behind it (if you know what I mean)

    cheers

Hanging on a wall, I see.
Whatever method you use, you can thicken up the foamex by glueing some more on the back using pvc pipe adhesive. What about some keyhole type fixings, like they use on pictures? Or an interlocking hanging strip – one on the sign hooks over the one fixed to the wall.

Clever Andy, you not just a pretty face then hey? :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

That’s a great Idea with the interlocking pieces, just got to see how far off the wall it will then sit.

I will look in to the keyhole fixing, that might be a good one.

    cheers

Or use locators, like you would use on letters. That is if they dont mind them standing off the wall by a bit.

Thanks George, that’s what Andy was suggesting. I suppose it wouldn’t look too bad with it 10mm away from the wall.

My other problem is if they want me to only supply so they can fit, would this still be the best way to do it? It would still be easy for them I suppose 😕

    cheers

    Just thinking out aloud here,

If I was to put a piece of 10mm near the bottom as well so that the whole board sits 10mm away from the wall would that look better 😕

It does look better easy enough to do too 😀
