  • Ideas for fixing 3mm panels to plastered walls??

Posted by Ian Higgins on 12 September 2007 at 10:04

    Hi Folks,

We are producing a large number of graphic panels on 3mm foamboard and they need to be permanantly fixed to the wall.

The walls are all plastered and painted with emulsion and they need to be flat mounted and they do not want to see any fixings!

I was thinking of a no nails type adhesive. Has anyone used a decent type and is this the way to go??

    Any advice appreciated.

    regards

    Ian

    Hi Ian,

When they go to take them off, The no nails will probably take the paint and plaster off with it, especially if it is new plaster. Then they would have to fill and paint again with a problem with new paint on old. What about double sided sticky tape. The sign would peel off ok and then just heat then just clean the rest of the glue off, It should come off in a strip. The tape would be better for larger panels as well as it would be instant grab rather than holding it there for 30mins waiting for the no nails to go off.

    Regards
    Steve

Use either a perimeter of foam double sided tape to get that instant grab and a few strips in the middle or a tape perimeter & Evostik ‘Serious Stuff’ (about £6 for a tube) to get a great bond.

Avoid cheap no-nails as it’s pretty useless.

    Thanks for that..
They are to be a permanant fixture so I think the Evo Stick with a little double sided to hold in place initially.

    Cheers

    Hi there,

put the panels in frame. Fit the frame to plaster board with plaster board fixings, then slide in the panel.
