I’ve been asked to make a large presentation cheque. This is not the sort of thing i usually do, but its for a cause close to my heart and i’m not charging.

I reckon 3′ x 2′ ish would be large enough, but i’m not sure what i should construct it from?

i’ll do all the ‘cheque look’ stuff from vinyl.

    thanks 🙂

a thick piece of card, or, you’ve probably got some 3 or 5mm foamboard kicking about, not too heavy, and will look good when finished. !!

If it’s just for a one off photo shoot I would think correx would be sufficient..

If it’s going to be displayed for a while after the event I would go with foamex

Why not get it printed on to paper and laminate it on to a piece of Foamex or something. We used to do this for a few customers at my old company in SA only becauase we had a large inkjet printer. Cheap and easy to do.

hmmm… foamex is perfect, but not something that i have general use for, which means that buying a pck of 5 or 10 sheets will leave 9 of them laying about, and buying 1 sheet wouldnt be cost effective postage wise.

i’ll pop into a nearby signshop and see if they have a sheet i can buy 🙂

    thanks

Try an art supply store, I happened to notice some sheets of something similar to foamex in our local art shop and thought I must remember that if I ever run out and somebody phones for an urgent sign. This actually happened to me just after I moved here, I got a call from an event organiser saying he was in a jam and needed 1 small sign board to put up to direct cars at a local event, I didn’t have anything with me at all so had to turn him down and only after thought that I think I may have just lose a huge opportunity because I did not know who he was and his number was blocked on my phone, if he organised events I I had of helped him out there might have been lots of more work in the pipeline……one of my regrets so far, always think I lost a big opportunity instead of convincing myself it would have come to nothing 😕

    babbleing on…sorry.

you don’t need to make one.

just go to your bank and ask for one, most do them, barclays certainly do, and they are free, just fill in the amounts and who its to with some vinyl lettering and jobs done.

Ive done lot of these for a charity i work with

i’ll remember that for the future, but on this occassion it isn’t a cheque from the bank.

I race motorcycles as a hobby. Last season, we had some major sponsorship from a fantastic guy who became the team manager and filled the team with spirit. Unfortunately, he developed a sudden tumour on the brain and died. He made such an impact on the team, that we have dedicated a prize award in his name to the series that we race in now (as he would have loved the series that we have switched to) and as well as a trophy that we had made (designed from a motorcycling ornament that he loved), there is also a servicing voucher to be used at one of the top workshops.

The ‘cheque’ is to represent the servicing voucer – it will be in the style of a cheque, but isnt being issued by a bank.

    thanks all 🙂
