Does anyone know of any supplier who knocks out the cheapest kids T shirts available, by cheapest I’m talking 20 or 30p each, 40p max,#
maybe some far eastern company or something.
I need to be able to screen print them and still sell them for about 70 to 80p for a massive order.
They are retailing at £2.99 so theres a middle man who sells them wholesale to the retailer at £1.50, as you can see not much profit margins.
    any help appreciated.

steve, how will you be able to screen them, and make a profit?
you are talking big numbers! maybe better buy the finished product direct from the chinese?

If I can get a T shirt for 20 or 30p and sell them for 70 or 80p then I can make a very nice profit on runs of that amount.
It costs about a penny or less in ink to screen print a child’s T shirt, and all I have on top of that is my time + the staffs.
My electric for the drying is included in my rent, and I would have to make 2 screens at a cost of around £60 we would be able to print hundreds per hour and get a quick turnaround.
that’s why I’m keen to source these.
I already have a 5 colour 2 board carousel stood there doing nothing so would like to put it to work and this is the ideal oppurtunity.
I’m going to be making hot peel /split plastisol transfers with it soon anyway so might as well let it see some action.

Wish you luck Steve, if its viable, go for it, just that the unit price looks very low to me, even in mass production terms.
and to produce 50,000 it must be for a big time player, so you will need to compete on labour with the far east?

The guy is buying them from some stoner at the minute who has gotten too much into his wacky baccy and takes 7 months to do an order, so says If I can do it for same or a little more then I have the business.
This other guy can knock them out for that and make a profit so I just need to find where he gets his T shirts.
I have a contact who imports T shirts and clothes from China for river island and other high st shops so may have to ask him a few favours.

How do you know he is making a profit?
all I can say is do your own sums steve,
dont work on the assumption that if someone else can do it, so can I

I already did my own sums above, I have seen T shirts of that price advertised before I just have to source them.
I know exactly how much it will cost me to print them
Relocating the supplier now is what Im after.

i dont see what the problem is making a profit…i made loads of money printing t-shirts, the only obstacle in the way was when i was approached by a sweatshirt manufacturer who supplied the whole of scotland with school sweats and t-s, they cut me right down to do all the printing, i just broke even with staff and overheads…..the company are now retired millionaires 😉 a huge lesson learned i think 😀

    Hi Steve,
Have you tried contacting your usual suppliers, tell them your situation and ask for qty discounts. BTC have kids shirts for 60p ish, i’m sure they’ll be able to do some sort of deal or even source some cheaper shirts for this sort of qty. If you get behind on the order you can send me some plain stock, i’d print all day long every day for that kind of profit.

    Cheers John

Thanks John will bear that in mind.
I had actually thought about contacting BTC.or ralawaise pencarrie etc to see if they can source me some but as usual havent had time to phone about.
    Thanks for the tip

Ralawise have childrens t-s from 30p each on their Raladeal, but limited stock, if they can sell for that then they should be able to supply you with the quantities you need.

I know we can all be profit driven, but at 30p a tee shirt, I cant help thinking of some poor kid in some sweatshop somewhere.

Even Gildan and AAA which are the some best quality you can buy are being offered to me at 54p, that’s with the supplier making a profit and the manufacturer, so whichever way you go some poor soul is making them for pennies, sad fact of life but a true one and I’m sorry I’m not buying fair trade T shirts at a fiver each to sell for 70p.
Its the way it is unfortunately and it isn’t going to change anytime soon.
We all have to make a living and thats exactly what the folk making the T shirts are doing, as far as I know they are not slaves and get paid small sums granted but its better than a lot have, I bet those Palestinians on the news foraging in the back of a rubbish truck on an Israeli landfill site had an opportunity to stitch T shirts to feed their family.
That’s how I look at it, it isn’t ideal but that’s how capitalism works Im afraid.

Quite agree Steve. The people probable see their wages as very good compared to some around them. Not everyone can save the world, some of us have a living to make. 😕
