  • having backing paper problems with Imageperfect 5700 Series

    Hi All,

I’ve been using Avery 500/600 series vinyl but was recommended to try the Imageperfect stuff. I was in need of a colour so purchased a roll of the ImagePerfect 5700 stuff. Seems good quality. Although I am having problems with it. The backing paper seems to have a lot more of a ‘waxy’ coating on it and thus results in it slipping the odd bit in my cutter.

The problem occurs more with larger jobs for the likes of vehicle livery. There has been no problem cutting smaller sizes of say 400mm. But anything bigger seems to slip in the cutter. I’ve reduced the speed of the cutter to see if that helps, which it does but only slightly.

I’m just wondering is it something I’m doing wrong? The clamps are down to hold the vinyl in place and there is no problem with the Avery stuff.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

this is my main vinyl usage and i dont have the problem you describe,

i can only guess you have 2 position pressure rollers and they are on the lighter setting.
or your knife is blunt and using to much knife pressure

    Hello,

Thanks for the tips. I’ve had to go back to using the Avery stuff as it cuts perfectly. The blade isn’t very old, its cutting the vinyl fine. I was cutting a 2000mm piece and it appeared as if the vinyl slipped in the cutter. It would be the only way to describe it.

The Avery stuff doesn’t cause me a problem but this ImagePerfect vinyl that seems to cause the issue. I don’t have any issues with the quality etc of the ImagePerfect.
