  • How would this look on car back window?

Posted by TimDouglas on 20 August 2007 at 15:44

Hi folks , I have never placed a graphic on a back window before,Have 3 cars to do tomorrow night. How would this design look ? The outside box is the size,
    Will it be readable?
Is the colors ok? Must have pink balloons
Do the heat elements and wiper cause an issue i should tell the customer?

    Hi Tim

Dark colours are not the best for windows and I would use white or a light colour and not black.

    The balloons will be fine.

as for the wipers there have been discussions before regarding this, some say no and some say yes, I have a graphic on the rear of my car for over a year now and I use the wiper often (it comes on automatically when I reverse and the front wipers are on) and there is not one bit of damage on it.

I would however warn the customer it is a possibility and there will be no guarantee.

    Hope that helps.

    cheers

As Warren said, the pink will be fine, the black you won’t see. Change that to white with a bright green and it will be easily read.
As for wipers. I tend to avoid fitting vinyls on the outside if they use a rear wiper, I’d fit on the inside in that case. 😀

    Definitely do not use black.
I would suggest giving the text a slight "smile" distortion if the window is very curved so that the lettering lays flat when applied.
I’ve stuck Oracal 651 on tons of back windows with only occasional chipping.
Just tell the customer not to use the wiper for a few days and have them park the vehicle so the sun hits the lettering when they get home.
That will help to "set" the adhesive.
    Love…..Jill

Tim,would one of the balloons not look better flipped so there is a mirror effect?

I’d be VERY wary of the strings on the balloons lifting-I don’t think they would last long, even if the wipers don’t hit them.
As already said, black will not be seen. Also, it runs into the sides a little too much for my liking, otherwise it looks good.

Is it cut vinyl or printed on one way vision?

If its cut vinyl take all the advice given. If its print one way vision use up more of the window with the design.

    Cheers
