Well, i thought i’d make a post that wasnt for anything for a change lol.

Since taking this business over a few weeks ago, we have managed to carry out quite a few jobs.
in the couple of weeks with no advertising at all, and bringing the business half way across the country, we have completed
    1 small recovery vehicle
    1 recovery lorry
    1 decorators van
    1 plumbers van
    1 gardeners van
    1 hairdressers
1 coffee shop, shop window and car
    1 taxi rear window
about a dozen show number plates
few items for a car club

personally, i think we have started off quite well so far, this has all come from word of mouth and many are a result of work done and then their mates seeing it etc.
but i want something a little more of a challenge or interesting, the vans we have done are all very very basic (which helps us with little experience) but i want to do logos etc.

How did you start your business, and how long did it take you to pick up so to speak?

i really love this work, and the challenge of learning all this new stuff is fantastic. and already on this site, i have seen so many helpful people willing to lend a hand that its very comforting to know the support you can fall back on to.
how did you all get into to this line of work ?

oh, and ANY tips for a total newbiee lol

Well, I got into making signs because people asked me for it…..
I do a lot of work painting and decorating and besides the ‘standard’ work people would ask if I could do murals, signs etc. Initially I would order lettering etc. cut out by another local company. But then I figured that since I did the design and artwork all myself I might aswell cut it…. So I bought a Pcut 630. Since then (2 months) I have done a fair few jobs: mainly signs for hotels/pubs/b&b’s ect. I did my own car and last week my husbands van….
I enjoy the challenge of every new job. It is still a huge learning curve, but very enjoyable. This forum is amazing. It is great being able to ask questions and get an answer so promptly.
