  • shaped dibond frame ?

Posted by Hugh Potter on 5 July 2007 at 12:46

hi all, i’ve got a dibond (or poss 10mm foamex) sign to make, to be fixed to a fence, the top edge is curved, the customer has asked about making a frame,

i’ve said that i don’t know of an edge for a curved sign,

does anyone know of one ? or should i just run a 2" strip of vinyl around the edge to simulate it, it’s going on the entrance to a small ind’ estate, so isn’t going to be scrutinised as such,

    any ideas welcome !

    ta.

    Hi Hugh

Check SMP’s returns, they look like they can be a curved edge.

Yup, stick on some vinyl. I do it all the time 🙂

Depending on the tightness of the curve, you could glue a strip of foamex to the edge to give it a beaded finish, possibly in a second colour. Like on a 10mm panel, a 13mm strip so it sticks out from the front a bit. Know what I mean?

What’s the point of the frame, decorative I assume?

Dave, i’ve done it before, when fitting to a chain-link fence etc, it’s just that this customer expressed interest in a frame, i figure the price will decide for them in the end !

yes Andy, decorative ! it’s gonna be screwed to a panel fence anyways !
i know what you mea about the foamex, may i could pop around the the upvc place round the corner and get some half round bead or something ! might do the trick ?
