We’ve been asked for some vinyl banners with weights in the bottom hem.

What do you use for weights?
Client has described the requirement as "Lead Weights" but I don’t know if that’s right?

Just go to your local metal/fabrication shop and get some steel bars?

    quote Bill McMurtry:

Fill the hem with Lead Shot?

Expensive way of doing it, but very flexible………..one whiff and the local scuba divers will be nicking it!!!! £3-5 per pound 😛

Solder sticks or coil – might be too expensive though? Roofing lead sheet cut into thin strips? Pour sand or gravel into the hem?

you could always take PVC pipe and get a good cement mixture cap off the one end, pour it in let it settle, then cap the other end off.3

Thought I should let you know what I did about this in the end.

I bought some 12mm dia steel tube from B&Q.

Cut it to 1m lengths so that the 3m wide banner could be folded.

    Hi Mate

We manufacture roller blinds, we use a high density pvc weight that comes in long strips, just cut down with hacksaw and bobs your uncle.
If you need any give me a ring 07876 568628

    Regards

    Tony
