    Hi,
Just a quick one, are the uniform lancer and the mutoh valuejet based around the same machine just with different branding??

I would agree they look the same but when i viewed them both at sign uk the valuejet seemed to be miles ahead. The lancer seemed to suffer with banding which i didnt think was possible if it was a rebranded valuejet due to "interweaving" printing. But i am probably wrong.

    hello dave

ink, you may save pennies on ink, way it up against the agro factor and time is money,
i have to say it been a while since mutoh really got it right, in fact the sc series cutter is the best machine they have ever made, and ask any user of one, they are great,
i would say this printer is going to be there sc of the printing machines,
roland and mimaki watch your backs

    Alan,

Couldn’t agree more, the valuejet looked fantastic at sign uk but might give it a few months though to see how reliable it is as i know a few guys on here had a lot of trouble with the older mutoh printers.

    Thanks Dave

i would say the lancer is a valuejet but now running activosol (B&P Inks) which are a more aggressive Ink, which then converts the machine to now be called the lancer by B&P in thier Uniform range of modified printers.
obviously its the same story with the likes of the Uniform cadet, its a re-branded versacamm running more aggressive inks.
same as Unifrom grenadier is a Roland Soljet running activasol inks and so on…
this being the case not just a simple case of change colour of covers and name, but re-tube certain areas of the machine also to allow for the more aggressive inks.

banding can happen on any machine regardless. granted the machine may have had issues at the time you looked at its output but it can also be down to the operator etc lots of things will cause banding, however i did see/hear about the interweaving and sounds good.

    Rob,

With the inks being more aggressive does this mean that they need to be treated more like a solvent inks in terms of ventilation etc.

The lancer uses Eco-Solvent Ultra inks, so the email said I had today for a printer/cutter bundle.

the whole case of more aggressive inks is that it should give a wider range of uncoated media to print directly onto than the less aggressive inks. it also excels in the inks durability in various ways. this is where the whole eco-sol -V- activa-sol inks debate came about. in turn Roland brought out the eco-sol Max inks to compete against the more aggressive activa-sol ink.

from what i have been told/heard both eco-sol and activa-sol have the same or similar danger levels and should BOTH be kept in ventilated rooms. its just one gives off a more "minging" odour. :lol1: i think this was why the citro-sol inks (more pleasant smelling) were introduced later in the day by B&P.

Thanks Rob, gives me even more things to think about as there is a big price difference between the 2 machines, is there any reason for that?
Got a call of Neil @ Graphtec today thanks for passing on my details. Will be contacting him soon to buy the CE5000-120.

    Thanks again
