  • do i layer up vinyl before fitting or apply when fitting job

Right I am about to buy my plotter, its only a basic one as will only be using it for myself and a few other people in a car club and have a few questions.

    1. What is the best type of vinyl for car logo’s and WWW address’s etc
    2. Some of the signs I will be doing will be for temporary use, will they come off without damaging paint etc.
    3. Most will be single colour/layer, but some will be more, is it best to apply the second layer after the 1st is on the car or whilst on the bench (if you see what I mean)

    Thanks
    Keith

any "reputable vinyl source", ide say buy a good 4-5 or 5-7 year calendar vinyl.

same as above… good vinyl will come off easy enough with a bit of heat applied.

i always advise to apply in layers. one at a time. i wouldnt pre-sack leyers before fitting.

I agree with Robert. I always apply in layers on site, I never build the colours up beforehand.
Phone vinyl suppliers like Europoint, Amari, Metamark, Robert Horne etc etc…… and ask them to send you colours charts and if possible a small bit of vinyl for using as a sample cut.
That way you can see just what vinyl suits you and your plotter best. Everyone has their own preferences.
A 4-5 year vinyl will suit just fine for short term jobs, no need to go to the expense of a cast vinyl.

Most suppliers will be happy to give you some sample vinyl to run through your plotter……….. that way you can decide which suits you best. 😀

    Thanks Marcella

I will do that. I am moving home this week so will do it as soon as I get myself sorted out, and settled.

    Thanks
