Has anyone had experience of using Neptune water-based inks for screen printing onto cotton? I was wondering how they compare as regards permanence and colour fastness?
Thanks
Hi,
Never used the Neptune inks but I have used sericol water based texopaque aqua. Didn’t like it so stuck to normal texopaque. Why do you need water based?.
Thanks for the reply. as I’m fairly new to screen printing i basically am looking for an ink which is easy to use, low odors, easy clean up etc. and i assume a water based ink is easier in this regard . So far i have just done a few test runs with acrylic paints and fabric paints, they have turned out fine but now i need a more permanent medium for some t shirt designs i have done .
So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Any plastisol ink will be fine but the water based might be better for cleaning up after printing. What you have to consider is cleaning the stencil off afterwards as the stripper used might be corrosive.
Contact your suppliers and ask for the most environmentally friendly ink, stencil and stencil remover. Also ask for health and safety sheets detailing their usage. They will be able to point you in the right direction.
