screws with coloured heads…. anyone?
Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 30 March 2007 at 12:25Does anyone know who supplies these?
I had a sample sent ages ago, but I never kept supplier details 😳They are a flat head, come in various colours, I believe specifically to match with Di-bond/Alupanel colours.
Any ideas anyone?

Ashby do some, but only in 1 length and if I remember they are self tappers.
I’ll be watching this thread cause it’d be nice to have a full range – pozi though, none of this straight head stuff!

Hi Gavin, thanks for that, I have Ashby sending out samples. They are not the same however, the ones I am after have a very flat head (posi-drive), which will sit almost flush with the board.
Anyone else with any idea of supplier?

Actually, I’ve just noticed, they are not X-headed, more like a star shaped centre.

Lorraine,
I’ve just found a sample pack of the Ashby screws and they are Polytop screws just rebaggedSteve

Lorraine,
the star shaped heads are called TORX as opoosed to POZI-DRIVE

Normally you’d get.
FLAT – just a slot
Philips – just a cross
Pozi-Drive – cross with a mini cross between the main one.
Torx – 6 pointed ‘fluted hexagon’, mainly used in the motor industry.
Allen – hexagonal – used an ‘allen key’.then various ‘security’ screws – like Torx with a centre stud, ‘Y’ keys….
All with the different shaped heads…countersunk, pan, domed….
