Derek I can’t see a problem there I bet you pay for your skip to be emptied by a regular firm, they will have all the necessary certifications to dispose of your waste in the correct way, as for giving off cut’s to schools etc. it’s educational, just think of all the schools and nursery’s that we all give off cut’s to, how many future sign writers are we creating 😀 🙄

Derek, if you hire a skip, and sign the declarations as to the type of waste then you dont have any problems, most of the stuff is not hazardous anyway.
The environment dept is more concerned that you are not tipping nasties down the drains or letting them off into the air.

tell them you go to the local dump and use their skips or landfill site. that’s what we do every two weeks. you drive in, you get weighed, you empty rubbish, drive back on scales get weighed… sign a form and they invoice you. cost is very little when its paper and card… if you use the same facilities but for home waste its free… that’s just the norm…
or you could say…
you burn the lot out the back on a fire along with old car Tyre’s, empty solvent ink tins, paint cans and the odd sheet of acrylic. 😉 -
Thanks all
Been checking with the skip firms documents and i am doing the necessary. I hopeDerek

Derek, I’ve been audited by the Environment dept here twice in 2 years (25 year old over educated university trained plebs who’ve only ever worked for government – the more businesses they catch out, the more points they score, the quicker they get promoted). Only advice I can give you, only answer the questions they ask. Don’t elaborate. Ideally yes / no answers. That way they can’t take what you say out of context.
Phills definition of the EPA is pretty close too 😕

I though Australia had some BS Laws,I’m having a rethink.

been warned that i face a caution or possible fine
why because i take the plastic milk and juice cartons from work and put them in my home recycling box thus disposing of business waste inappropriately i kid you not 😮

But didn’t you…bring the cartons FROM home (being part of your home shopping) and are returning them in their empty state as domestic waste. So long as they weren’t bought with or declared as a business expense…it MUST be a domestic item…
OK, you are stuffed if you took 50p out the till & bought milk and kept the receipt for ‘accounting purposes’….bureaucratic idiocy…

Crazy – where will it all stop?
We have a cardboard recycling skip out front. After some testing they agreed to take away backing paper and used app tape. They also collect for free as they come into the estate anyway for a bigger collection but even if they charged it would still be cheaper than paying for an extra council bin – and our local dump is too far away to go more than a couple of time a year.

just received my official caution for disposing of my waste incorrectly 👿
it lasts for 5 years .B A S T A R D S (:) (:) (chat.) -
on what grounds?
Assuming your not burying/setting fire or tipping solvents in the river what could you have done to justify this?

I took a couple of boxes left over from a delivery from Hexis to the local cardboard recycling skip a wee while ago. Had my co. name & address on the courier’s sticker on the box, also had hexis.co.uk all over the boxes!
I was sent a letter asking me to explain myself.
I played dumb (not hard) but the upshot was that I was forced to sign up for council commercial waste collections from outside my house – one tiny orange bag a week – and 7 weeks on it hasn’t once been collected without a phonecall by me to them to let them know it wasn’t collected on the allocated day!

Hi G
i was recycling my rubbish illegally by taking it home and to the tip i should have been paying the council or others to do it.
i do have a collection for my scrap vinyl etc which is classed as landfill and i pay for.
but now i will put it all in the land fill skip and bollocks to them.
i will also stop recycling at home and just put it all in the bin.
just in case i put plastic in the cardboard bin against the terms of my caution (rant over)

That’s hellish!
Luckily were the opposite and take our recycling to work cause they take cardboard and stuff instead of just the things that go in the ‘blue box’.
You could understand it if it was on an industrial scale (I’m thinking it’s not!), but surely some common sense is needed?

I just finished to biggish jobs and have 20 bags of rubbish.
I’m not allowed to take to the dump and have to dispose of properly, Having seen everyone’s postings I’ll have to have a bonfire tonight.
Can’t see black smoke at night 😉
Only kidding.
Cheers

why kid Adam, one of our neighbours burns stuff a street or two away, stinks when you compare it to all my app tape and backing paper that get’s burned,
due to the inefficiency of our council to empty our bins, or the correct bin at the right time, our bins are always bursting with domestic or commercial waste, so anything non toxic that burns, is burned once a fortnight (just like being around the campfire !) just so as we have the room in the bins for our other rubbish, my waste plastics are usually taken to the tip, though i often get it cut by the supplier, eliminating any waste,
recycling is a joke around here.
Derek, feel for ya mate, it’s ludicrous,

I bought a compactor a couple of years ago, paid itself back within the first year with the money I save on the bags I have to buy to put my rubbish in. Now instead of 10/20 bags a weeks @ £2.10 each I only need 2!
I think the compactor was about £700 from a company called hardall (you should find it on google), and it’s a domestic appliance. Dead easy to use, put all your paper/app tape, weeded vinyl etc. in it, press the button and look at it shrink! The glue in the vinyl makes it all stick together nice and compact. When it’s full, just slide it out into a bag and off it goes.
-
I’m actually thinking about getting one for home as well, seen as with this "collect every two weeks" business, my home bin is always overflowing, so I end up jumping on the bin to get those couple more bags in (not nice on your shoes!)
