  • Bar to hang big banner

    Hi All,

    I’ve got a 2m x 5m banner to hang inside an exhibition.

The riggers in the exhibition will hang it but I need to supply 2 bars with it. One at the top with rings on the end to connect to wire and one at the bottom to keep it flat.

Any Ideas or suppliers? for a cost effective solution.

    Cheers
    Adam

the product is called a poster clamp

only smaller sizes are isted on the site but call them up, the ones I used were for a 1.4m banner and they said they can be made to size.

    cheers

i don’t think poster clamps is what you are after in this case. the materials weight will pull it out from the top clamp. i also do not think they do these type of clamps much wider than a metre or so… they are good but limited in size i think… i have just recently used some from http://www.ukpos.com/

fabricating these poles should be pretty easy… there is normally a sort of pocket/loop in the banner material top and bottom. one holds the bottom bar which is only there to keep straight and weight the banner. the top does the same but you could have some loop screws with a nut on the end going in one side of a pole and out the other.

B&Q (although i am not saying this is the way to do it) B&Q use brush shafts top and bottom with some screw hook/loops on the top.

the above are diy options of course.. buying in i would expect some place like bannerbox to be able to advise you on this sort of thing.

not quite sure what you need, is the banner to have the poles inserted through a pocket? or to be suspended from eyelets from the pole?

50mm x 2mm aly tube is easily available from most ally stockist, and would do the job.

Cheers Peter and Phil for advice.

Yes the poles are going into pockets, hanging portrait style.

I found an aly supplier this morning which will attach eye’s on the end for me. Just waiting for the price.
    I’ll let you all know.

    Cheers
    Adam.

We recently hung 3500x1250mm portrait banners with the signwaves system and I’m delighted with the outcome. Just a nice finishing touch having the ally rail along the top and bottom (hangs very nicely). Didn’t seem to be any problem with the weight, in fact it took all my weight to clamp the things down!!
