    Hi All
I would like your opinion on the new "illegal to smoke……" signs that are being handed out by local councils.
I don’t know if the design is council specific, and the version you see may be a true work of art, but the one I have seen looks as though it must have been the winner of an under-fives poster competition – in fact I have seen better composed works curling up on my fridge door.

To think that these signs are going to be on walls, doors, windows, cars, buses, cafe’s, factories, shops etc etc……

surely some thought and just a little artistic input should have been applied.

    What are your thoughts?

If you have covered this subject before just dump it.

    Hi Derek
Thanks – it’s the design of the no smoking signs that baffle me – they have broken every rule of the beginner’s guide to layout – and worse of all I don’t think the design is ironic or clever it’s just very, very bad

I will try to post one of the samples we have.

Hi – what exactly do the English version of these signs look like then? We have had this ban in Scotland for nearly a year now (and it has worked) but our signs are fine – just a normal no smoking signs with some added info. You have to use this design however and cannot deviate.

Strictly speaking they are not English versions of the signs they are Welsh with English translation.

    Lovely innit?
